Chapter Director Ride to Meers Store and Restaurant
June 9th Leave Shop 8:30AM
As a Chapter, NTHOG has always bragged that we ride more than any other HOG Chapter bar none. And in keeping with this well known truth, I will lead a ride to the great state of Oklahoma. You heard it right! The Chapter is going on another ride to Oklahoma. Our finial destination will be the world famous Meers Store and Restaurant, located in Meer’s, OK. If you have never had the gastronomical pleaser of sampling one of their off the chain hamburgers, you need to be at the Shop full tank and empty bladder, ready to ride! Be sure to bring some cash, we will be traveling for a short distance on the H.E. Bailey Turn Pike (I44).
The last time we visited Meers, the line was out the door and around the building, this is a testament as to how good the food is in this joint. And there is more than just burgers, and all of it is good. If we have lines around the building on this ride I have a back up plan that will afford us an equally unique and enjoyable dinning experience, and the location is not bad either. The place is “Cafe Old Plantation” located in Medicine Park, OK. The community has a rich and colorful history. Originally founded on July 4th, 1908 by Oklahoma Senator Elmer Thomas, Medicine Park was Oklahoma’s first planned tourism resort.
Riding to eat on this trip is not the only goal I have set for us; I also have a stop planned for the second highest point in Oklahoma, Mt. Scott 2,464 above sea level. Mt Pinchot, several miles to the west is the tallest by 12 feet. This will be a rather long trek close to 200 miles one way, so if you are looking to put some miles on your scoot, and sample some good chow, come on out and log some miles with me before the weather gets really hot.
